If you want to win over an undecided person to your point of view, do you make up the most-outlandish accusation you can think of and then toss it out to convince your listener that your point of view is the best? If you do that often enough, you will lose respect among rational people. Propaganda has its uses when you need to control masses of unthinking people who have no access to the truth. But if you keep tossing out propaganda and getting found out, you will end up with no credibility at all, even when you are right. This is like “the boy who cried wolf” syndrome.

Let us look at this outlandish list from former Jew and current Christian minister the Rev. Dr. David M. Berman, Th.D., who give us his list of ten reasons why liberals hate Christians:

1. Liberals are relativists and hate Christians because Christians believe in absolute truth.
2. Liberals do not want anyone to say that immorality is immoral.
3. Liberals are selfish and are more interested in their “feelings” then they are with what is right for others.
4. Liberals misunderstand what Christians really believe.
5. Since liberals see themselves as the superior enlighten ones they do not recognize that taking a position against their position is not automatically hate.
6. Liberals do not want to listen to what makes sense, they would rather listen to their senses.
7. Liberals ignore the clear evidence of the result of their philosophical positions influence on the last 40 years. It had been a social disaster and they do not want to hear it.
8. They see Christians as intellectually inferior.
9. Liberals see Christians as wanting to impose their religion on them when in truth it is the liberals who have used the courts system to impose their secular humanism religion on all of us.
10. Liberals are spiritually lost and blind to the truth of the gospel. Consider the following bible verses:

    “But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” - 1 Corinthians 2:14

    Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denies the Father and the Son. Whosoever denies the Son, the same has not the Father: but he that confesses the Son has the Father also. -1 John 2:22-23

Now, if you are a Christian liberal, I will bet you will be surprised to know that you “have used the courts system to impose [your] secular humanism religion on all of us.” There are probably less than 10,000 openly-avowed secular humanists in the United States. And not all of them are liberals by any means. And yet there are millions of Christians who express liberal values and who are by no means advocating “secular humanism religion” (which is oxymoronic, as secular humanists totally disavow that secular humanism is even a religion!).

And while there certainly are liberals who are moral relativists, like the postmodernists I so much despise, nowhere near all liberals or all secular humanists are moral relativists who “do not want anyone to say that immorality is immoral.” And since the above rant appears to come from the same people who want you to not believe in the scientific theory of evolution, its no wonder that they claim that liberals “see Christians as intellectually inferior.” Neo-Luddite fools distinctly are intellectually inferior, in my own humble opinion.

We need to see the above rant for what it is: propaganda, plain and simple. The writer knows that over 70% of the people of the United States profess to be Christians, but only about 30% of the people of the United States adhere to the strict positions on moral and economic issues that the writer is advocating. So, to obtain agreement from the remaining 40%, the above propaganda piece is written with the unspoken argument that if you are a good Christian, you will not be a liberal, you will adopt the absolute morality of the conservative Christian Bible interpretations, you will not tolerate anybody being a homosexual, you will not tolerate any woman ever getting an abortion for any reason, and you will preach incessantly at anybody who fails to automatically capitulate to the conservative Christian position on any issue, even if science proves that the conservative Christian position is totally (and ignorantly) wrong.

Polemics of this sort do nothing to unify our nation against its enemies. Instead, they divide us into subgroups according to how we react to the above message. They put us at war with each other, instead of inculcating feelings of respect for our diversity, including a diversity of opinion. This is the sort of conservativism which seeks a return to the “good old days” (which never actually existed). In fact, if this crew ever obtained majority power, we would get torture dungeons for anybody who failed to toe the line drawn by these absolutist dictators of moral hegemony.
